Chuang Tzu's famous thought-provoking question, "Was I Chuang Tzu dreaming I was a butterfly or am I now really a butterfly dreaming that I am Chuang Tzu?" has been an inspiration to me. As my personal journey of self-discovery took me from societal norms to realizing my own truth, it drove home the importance of representation for those who have been historically silenced and invisibilized.
My identity is not confined by simple categories and labels; instead, it is composed of multiple facets that are constantly growing and evolving as I learn more about myself. With time, memory, and dreams all intertwined in this experience, the most important thing to me right now is loving myself on my own terms without feeling judged by society's standards. No matter what gender roles were imposed upon me in the past, they will no longer dictate how I perceive my worthiness as a person.
Through dialogue with others in similar situations and celebration of our differences we can make sure our unique perspectives are heard loud in clear - giving us agency over our lives like never before. Acknowledging who we truly are brings out the strength needed to fight invisibilization while creating a sense of belonging amongst us that goes beyond traditional boundaries. Loving oneself unapologetically will open up doors for greater acceptance within ourselves as well as from any external sources seeking recognition too.
I am no longer stuck between two worlds but rather fully emerged into one where new possibilities lay ahead –a world where everyone can explore their realities without judgement or fear: A Butterfly Dreaming Their Own Reality!
